
The Nonya cooking ingredient Bunga Chengkih or Cloves a well known spice that is
derived from the dried young buds of the Bunga Chengkih or clove evergreen tree
of the myrtle family.
Native to the Moluccas, eastern Indonesia, it is now cultivated elsewhere in the
Tropics. Bunga Chengkih or Cloves , produced from the flower buds have a strong
aroma and hot and are pungent in taste.
Bunga Chengkih or Cloves are used extensively as a condiment and flavoring in
many types of cookery while the oil produced from distilling is used in
medicines and perfumes.
